When did you first join the Hash?

My first Hash was with the LCHHH around February 1987.  I don’t recall the exact date but, it was somewhere around Sembawang.

 

Probably my condo is on top of it now! How did you get your name?

It was in late 1987 after an On-On at a restaurant just off Bukit Timah when I was rushing to jump in the back seat of Sooch’s car along with a few other people in order to avoid a torrential down pour, and when I opened the door and took a step back – there was no sidewalk!  Sooch parked on a concrete slab over a very deep drainage ditch and down I went doing a backwards flip on my head about 3 meters.  I don’t remember much after that as I was concussed with a gash in the back of my head.  Fortunately, David Hotze, one of the others getting into Sooch’s car, realized I never got in and came looking for me.  Unable to lift an unconscious dead weight out of a ditch rising with water, he ran back to the restaurant screaming for help.  My lucky day – the Kiwi army boys came to my rescue and jumped down in to pull me out.  I finally came to and was rushed to the hospital to get stitched up.  Long story short – I fell in a ditch.

 

Haha, that is a good story. Apart from the above, do you have a memorable moment?

LCHHH’s 1,000th Event.  I was a hare and it was great to see so many old hashers from the early years.

 

What about your Favorite Run site?

Lorong Sesuai – great spot to spread out, good lighting, close to home, and I enjoy running hills.

What do you like about the Hash?

Camaraderie, exercise, and the beer.

In That order? What do you dislike?

Gossiping and the smell of monkey piss.

Yeah, especially when it’s in your hair! Best ON On?

Many a long night at the Red Lantern.

Hard to beat there isn’t it. Anyone you particularly admire on the Hash?

Anyone over 50 and still running regularly.

Too many to list here.

Yes, Sweet Thighs (Gabrielle) since 1990.

 

Children?

Yes, three: 17; 14; and 10.

 

Could you improve the Hash?

I would shorten the circles as some drag on forever.  Plus, we really need to streamline the AGM’s!!

 

Let’s start with this year’s! What changes have you noticed at the Hash over the years?

Fewer places to hash in Singapore.

 

Any words of wisdom to leave us with?

We’re only here for a short time so enjoy, be happy, and keep smiling!

 

Finally, do you follow Boo?

Only if I am really separate and lost.  Although, I had to follow Boo one night during the Irishman’s run in pitch black – along with a dozen others…
